"Smoove Foowah"
by Fleta R. Robinson

She had not yet mastered the speech skills she would soon have, but Holly needed someone to answer her imaginary phone calls.

There just happened to be a grandma handy (me) who loved this creative 4 year old enough to take on the role. Holly picked up the play phone and dialed her Grandma "Raine" (Lorraine Standeford) in distant Oregon.

She began excitedly telling about her bike. "It has twaining wheels and I can wide it. Rebecca got too big for it and gave it to me!"

I responded how pleased I was, and then to complicate things a bit I asked, "Can you ride it on that rocky driveway and bumpy ground around your house?"

"No," she giggled "in the new building--that's where I wide!"

Still keeping my role as the far-away grandmother I asked, "Oh, is the building finished? Does it have walls and a roof now?"

A beautiful smile lit up her little face, "No, Gramma Waine, but it has a smoove foowah!"

How good of God to teach me through this wee one. So much needs done, but how grateful we are for what is already accomplished--including a "smoove foowah" (smooth floor) for the yet-to-be-completed building.

O give thanks unto the Lord; for He is good;
for His mercy endureth forever.
O give thanks unto to the God of gods;
for his mercy endureth forever.
O give thanks to the Lord of lords;
for His mercy endureth forever.

-from Psalm 136

Look at a difficulty and recognize that special facet that contains a blessing!

Oh give thanks to the Lord; for He is good.
