Error and TRUTH
Fleta R. Robinson
Jesus yelled unto them, "Get me off this cross. I CAN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE. The thorns in this ‘crown’ are piercing deeply into my head; the pain is unbearable. I’ve HAD IT up to here." He started to gesture with his hands, but the spikes in them held brutally firm. "I’ve GOT to get down from this cross. I can’t take it ANYMORE," he screamed." I HATE to be front and center like this. My back is slashed, blood is everywhere – they even took my clothes. What did I do to deserve all this??"
Embarrassed, angry, self-centered, and in the deep agony of a bitter spirit he dropped his head. His feet were in great pain – awful pain. With intense suffering and angry bitterness he died.
Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." One of the criminals, who also hung there, hurled insults . . . "Aren’t you the Christ? Save yourself and us!" . . . The other said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into Your Kingdom." Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in Paradise."
To His mother, "Dear woman, here is your son," and to the disciple [John], "Here is your mother."
"I am thirsty."
"Into Your hands I commit my Spirit."
"It is finished."
