Do You Have Breath?
Fleta R. Robinson
Don’t you love it when upon awakening the first thought of the day is a Scripture verse or a hymn! This morning it was as if God Himself gently nudged me awake with:
"Let everything that has breath praise the Lord." *
Lots of respiratory problems through the years have taught me a keen appreciation for breath. Anyone who has benefited from artificial respiration, or received the breath of life from another person, understands. It began in Genesis:
"And the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living being." -Genesis 2:7
Down through the ages breath is why we are living beings. Without breath we have no life.
We are breathing, so – let the praise begin! Your faces fill the screen of my mind. Your friendship, your help, your kinship, your prayers, give me much gratitude. I praise God for you!
My husband’s sister fell one blustery night, and was there – in ice, wind and snow, until a neighbor found her quite some time later. We praise God for the good signs of recovery after four weeks in the hospital. We praise Him for the kind neighbor. For other family members emerging from extended illnesses and physical problems, we give God praise. For the JOY of having sons and daughters who love the Lord and share their faith with others, we give God praise. For the MMAP+ volunteers who come with enthusiasm and skill, we give praise to God.
During trials and situations that draw us closer to the Savior; in circumstances that require us to lean on Him, to read His Word, to be in utter dependance upon the Living God?? We can and we must – thank you, Father; we praise You!
For life, for mercy, for love, for Kansas skies, for smiles, for stamina, for kindnesses, for work, for strength-for-the- day, for good neighbors – we give God praise. For beautiful music, for rest, for challenges, for goals, for peace of mind, for purity of heart, for help from friends with giving hearts – we give God praise. For co-workers who love the Lord and for those to whom we minister –
Praise the Lord!
